Cricket, a centuries old gentleman’s (or gentlewoman’s) game, quintessentially British and combined with cucumber sandwiches. Surely the only sport where you stop for tea half way through a game? Sport doesn’t get more civilised than that. However like most sports, getting enough cricket players is incredibly arduous and it is no coincidence that most cricket captains and organisers are bald. Last minute drop outs, flakiness, work or family commitments, the excuses just keep piling up. Organising cricket matches is a nightmare and last minute cricket mercenaries are a godsend.
