Bullpadel Vertex 05 2026 Review: Juan Tello's Refined Power Diamond

A refined attacking diamond — thunderous overheads and rock-solid net play, now paired with enough comfort, spin and a huge sweet spot to reward the technically sound.
The Bullpadel Vertex 05 2026 is Juan "El Gato" Tello's flagship racket and the most technologically advanced frame in the Bullpadel range. It is a tour-level diamond built to attack — but where older Vertex models were uncompromising, the 05 adds a larger sweet spot, real vibration damping and the Air Power 2.0 aero profile for faster swings. At €269.95 it sits at the premium end. Here is what the data and the testers say.
✓ What we like
- Explosive, authoritative smashes and biting viboras
- Huge, forgiving sweet spot for a diamond (9.0)
- Surprisingly comfortable thanks to Vibradrive damping
- Genuine CustomWeight tuning (up to +12g)
✗ Watch out for
- Demanding in defence — needs active hands
- Punishes off-centre contact sharply
- Firm and clearly level-dependent
- Premium price adds to the commitment

Review scores
Scores aggregate Padelful's published metrics and Padel Mad's testing with qualitative reviews. These are independent review platforms, not our own ratings.
What reviewers praise
Explosive, authoritative smashes. The stiff Xtend-Carbon 12K face plus Air Power 2.0 aero means the ball genuinely accelerates off the strings. Flat finishes feel penetrating and the vibora bites hard.
Net-game authority. Reviewers single out net play as the racket's greatest strength — firm, heavy, depth-loaded volleys that stay stable when blocking pace and direct when stepping in.
Surprisingly comfortable for a stiff diamond. The Ease Vibe and Vibradrive systems (up to ~49% vibration reduction) plus the Hesacore grip keep arms fresher over long sessions — one of the more arm-friendly high-performance diamonds.
Real customisation. The CustomWeight system (up to +12g) lets you tune balance from neutral all-court to head-heavy power — a genuine differentiator in a production racket.
What reviewers criticise
Demanding in defence. The high balance and stiff face do not absorb pace; baseline blocks, resets and reflex shots at the feet require active hands and clean timing.
Punishes off-centre contact. Miss the sweet spot and the response drops off sharply — it rewards solid mechanics rather than covering sloppy timing.
Firm and level-dependent. Stiffer than the Hybrid or round alternatives, and a clear step up in difficulty for players below advanced level. The premium price adds to the commitment.
What the community says
Community testers consistently flag the same trade-off: a brilliant attacking ceiling and a huge sweet spot, paired with real demands on technique and defence.
"Incredible — exceptional control and a huge, forgiving sweet spot, though it lacks free power and needs good technique for smashes."
"Great power and easy to smash, but I didn't like its manoeuvring on outdoor courts, and the control isn't the easiest for intermediates."
Irish conditions
This is a meaningful consideration for Irish players. The Vertex 05's stiff Xtend-Carbon 12K face and firm MultiEVA core get noticeably harder and less lively in single-digit autumn and winter temperatures — cold EVA foam loses rebound, so on damp 5–8°C outdoor courts you will feel a drier, deader ball exit and a harsher impact, which compounds the racket's already demanding off-centre behaviour. One community tester explicitly flagged worse manoeuvring outdoors.
The practical fixes: let the racket and balls warm up (keep it indoors, not in a cold car boot), and expect to swing harder for the same pace on frosty mornings. The bigger picture is that Ireland's padel scene is overwhelmingly indoor — most clubs in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast are covered and heated — where temperature is a non-issue and the racket's crisp, controllable power and large sweet spot shine. The strong vibration damping is also a genuine plus on cold days, where stiff frames otherwise transmit more sting to the arm.
Head-to-head comparisons
vs Bullpadel Hack 04 2026
Both are tour-level diamonds, but the Hack 04 is the purer power tool — higher, more head-heavy balance, elite match-ending smash pace and the firmest, most demanding feel. The Vertex 05 sits a touch lower in balance, accelerates more easily, defends better and offers a larger, more forgiving sweet spot. Choose the Hack 04 if smashes are your whole game; the Vertex 05 is the more rounded total-play option. Read our Hack 04 review.
vs Adidas Metalbone 2026
The Metalbone delivers brutal punch with notably better defence and elbow-friendliness than most firm diamonds. If you want power with a safety net for resets and arm health, the Metalbone edges it; the Vertex 05 counters with crisper net feel, more spin bite and the CustomWeight tuning. Read our Metalbone review.
vs Bullpadel Vertex 05 HYB 2026
The Hybrid uses round-to-diamond transition geometry and a medium-high balance, making it markedly more forgiving and accessible — the natural stepping-stone for improving intermediates. The full-diamond Vertex 05 trades that forgiveness for more offensive bite. Buy the standard Vertex 05 only if your net game and overhead technique are already solid.
Who should buy this racket
This racket is for you if...
- You're an advanced or competitive league player who dominates from the net
- You're a power-first attacker who wants explosive smashes and biting viboras
- You have solid mechanics and want a diamond with more control and a bigger sweet spot than rivals
- You value tuning your balance via the CustomWeight (+12g) system
Who should avoid it
Look elsewhere if...
- You're a developing intermediate without a reliable net game or clean overheads
- You're a reactive, defence-first baseliner who needs a forgiving, pace-absorbing frame
- You have significant arm issues, or you play mostly on cold outdoor courts
Consider the Vertex 05 Hybrid (more forgiving, same platform) or the Adidas Metalbone (power with more comfort).

The bottom line
The Bullpadel Vertex 05 2026 is one of the finest attacking diamonds of the year — faster, comfier and more customisable than its predecessor, with a large sweet spot and refined control that broaden its appeal without softening its punch. It rewards clean technique and net-dominant aggression, but punishes sloppy contact and reactive defence. For Ireland's largely indoor, advanced and competitive players it is an excellent choice; cold outdoor sessions and lower-level players are the main caveats.
