Ireland's Padel Map, August 2026: Seven New Venues

Verified 3 August 2026. Every venue below was checked against a live booking system, an official planning record or the operator's own site — sources linked throughout. This is the monthly update to Ireland's padel court tracker.

The headline numbers

Ireland now has 305 open padel courts across 88 venues on the island, with 194 courts at 65 venues in the Republic. We track 140 locations in total once courts in build and in planning are counted. (The 305 figure has since been corrected to 302 — see the note above.)

Seven venues have been added to the open list this month — several of which had been quietly taking bookings for weeks without any announcement.

Newly open: seven venues, 23 courts

Limerick just extended its lead — dramatically

Padel Tennis Ireland Limerick opened at Garryowen FC on the Dooradoyle Road in late July with eight full-size courts, making it one of the two largest padel facilities in the country alongside its sister venue in Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork.

The effect on our County Padel Density League is significant. Limerick was already Ireland's padel capital at 7.6 courts per 100,000 people. With these eight courts it moves to 11.5 per 100,000 — more than three times the national average and further ahead of every other county than any team has led that table since we started measuring.

Three Dublin venues we had missed

• OB Padel at Old Belvedere RFC, Ballsbridge — 3 indoor panoramic courts
• Leopardstown Golf Padel Range, Dublin 18 — 4 outdoor panoramic courts
• Padel & Pines, Kilternan — 1 outdoor court, private members' club

All three are live and bookable. Dublin's court total rises to reflect them, though the capital still sits mid-table per head of population — a reminder that Dublin's padel problem was never a shortage of venues, but a shortage of venues relative to 1.4 million people.

Laois joins the map properly

Padel at Pollys at the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel is open with 2 outdoor panoramic courts, from €25 an hour off-peak — below the national average of €48 peak we recorded in our price index.

Two more in the North

• Let's Go Padel Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh — 4 indoor courts, and not yet listed on the operator's own locations page
• Clonoe Padel, Coalisland, Co. Tyrone — 1 indoor court

We also corrected court counts at two Northern venues after checking their live booking systems: Galgorm Castle (4, not 2) and Padel 54 Degrees North (8, not 7). Two further changes originally published here — Let's Go Padel Carryduff and Let's Go Padel Newry — were subsequently re-verified and found to be wrong. The correct counts are 11 and 2 respectively.

A correction: Leitrim is no longer the county with nothing

In our County Padel Density League published in July, we described Leitrim as the only county in Ireland with no padel court open or in planning. That was wrong, and it was wrong when we published it.

There are in fact three live padel planning applications in Leitrim:

• Leitrim Gaels GAA, Leitrim Village — 2 courts, lodged 9 July 2026, decision due 2 September
• Dromahair Community Park — 2 courts, currently at Further Information stage
• A second Dromahair application, lodged in April, recorded as incomplete

Leitrim still has no court open today, and remains the only county in that position with no facility yet built. But it is no longer the county where nothing is happening — the Dromahair applications predate our article, and we should have found them. We have corrected the league table and apologise to anyone in Leitrim who read the original.

Approved this summer: 19 more courts on the way

• Arena Padel, Greenhill, Co. Kildare — nine indoor courts, a €4m development backed by former Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given, approved by Kildare County Council on 18 June 2026 after an earlier refusal. Targeting April 2027.
• Ballyhass Lakes, Mallow, Co. Cork — 4 courts, granted 18 May 2026
• Firies National School, Co. Kerry — 1 court, granted on appeal by An Coimisiún Pleanála on 24 June after residents objected on noise grounds. The permission carries conditions that may become a template for community courts: use restricted to 8am–8pm, floodlights cowled onto the playing surface, a four-metre acoustic wall, and noise not to exceed 55 decibels.
• Kilmacow Sports Complex, Co. Kilkenny — 1 court, granted 9 July 2026
• The Johnstown Estate, Enfield, Co. Meath — 2 courts, granted January 2026, with an amendment lodged in July to remove the approved roof
• Springfield, Youghal, Co. Cork — 2 outdoor courts, granted April 2026

Coming soon: what to watch in the next eight weeks

• West Wood Leopardstown, Dublin — 8 indoor courts and 2 pickleball courts in a new air dome; the operator says end of August
• Banner Padel, Ennis, Co. Clare — 6 indoor courts, selling founder memberships ahead of opening; would be Clare's first
• Indoor Padel Ireland, Navan, Co. Meath — 6 courts, listed on Playtomic with opening hours but no bookable slots yet
• Park Padel at Waterpark RFC, Waterford — 4 courts, now confirmed on Playtomic as coming soon
• Kingfisher Padel Club, Templepatrick, Co. Antrim — announced as Padel Society's second site; court count unconfirmed

And one that isn't happening

We have removed the Westlodge Hotel, Bantry from the tracker. The application for four modular courts, lodged in December 2025, was withdrawn — it was never granted, and we should not have been showing it as planned. Cork also saw two applications for a six-court facility at Green's Quay in Youghal declared invalid, and a three-court proposal in Clonakilty withdrawn.

How we verify

Nothing goes on this map because someone said so. Open venues are confirmed by live, bookable slots on a booking system or by the operator's own site, and we count only the courts actually in play. Planned venues are confirmed against the planning authority's own record — application number, description and decision date. Applications that are merely lodged are labelled as such, not as approved. Where we cannot verify a court count, we do not publish one.
