Straight answer: there is one padel court open in County Kilkenny — a single outdoor court at Kilkenny County & City Lawn Tennis Club. That is about to change dramatically. Thirteen further courts across three venues are either in construction or have planning granted, which would take the county from 1 court to 14.

Kilkenny LTC brought padel to the county, adding a single court to its established tennis facilities. The club is welcoming to newcomers, which matters when you are trying a sport for the first time, and the court is bookable online. With only one court, evening and weekend slots go quickly — book ahead rather than turning up.

Padel Hub Kilkenny — Cillin Hill
Type: Indoor & outdoor | Courts: 6 (4 indoor, 2 outdoor) | Status: In build, no confirmed opening date
A purpose-built six-court facility at Cillin Hill, announced in May 2026 — four indoor courts and two outdoor, with a spectator viewing deck. The courts are being supplied by MejorSet and bookings are expected to run through Playtomic. This would be the largest padel venue in the southeast outside Waterford and the first indoor courts in the county, which is the part that matters most: indoor play is what turns padel from a summer activity into a year-round one.

Planning Granted
Arena Padel — Gowran Park
Type: Indoor & outdoor | Courts: 6 (5 indoor, 1 outdoor) | Status: Planning granted
Permission has been granted for a six-court “Padel Centre of Excellence” at Gowran Park — five indoor and one outdoor. No opening date has been announced. Arena Padel is the same group behind the approved nine-court development at Goffs in Kildare, backed by former Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given, so this is a serious operator rather than a speculative scheme.
Kilmacow Sports Complex

Kilkenny County Council granted conditional permission (ref 2660293) for an enclosed, floodlit padel court at Kilmacow Sports Complex, following an application by Kilmacow Community Sports Complex Company Ltd. A welcome addition for the south of the county — Kilmacow sits close to the Waterford border, so it will serve players on both sides.
