Where to Play Padel in Meath

Straight answer: Navan. As of 22 September 2026 County Meath has its first padel venue — Indoor Padel Ireland, six indoor courts at Mullaghboy Industrial Estate, open seven days a week from 7am to 11pm. It is the only open venue in the county, it is the largest indoor padel venue between Dublin and the border, and for the first time "where can I play padel in Meath" has an answer that does not involve the M1.

Six panoramic indoor courts in an industrial unit on the edge of Navan — five full doubles courts and one singles court. Indoor means the weather is never the reason a game gets cancelled, and a 7am start means the before-work slot exists. The club runs on Playtomic, so the app shows you every court and every slot, and the courts are listed individually rather than as a pool.

The club is calling €48 an hour its opening offer and is charging it all day — no peak premium at the moment. That is the top end of the €25–€44 an hour we see across Ireland, though for six brand-new indoor courts it is not out of line, and it works out at €12 a head for four players. There is a free sauna with every booking until Christmas, which nobody else in the country is doing. Prices checked on Playtomic, 21 September 2026.

Coaching

The club has a coach in place from day one — José Navarro — running hour-long Introduction to Padel classes for complete beginners (Playtomic level 0–1.5) at €35, four to a class. Opening-week sessions ran on Thursday 7pm, Friday 6pm and Saturday 9am; classes are booked through the same Playtomic listing under "Academy activities". If you have never held a padel racket, that is the way in: an hour with a coach and three other beginners, rather than four of you guessing on a court.

Getting there

Mullaghboy Industrial Estate is on the edge of Navan, a few minutes from the town centre and about forty from the M50 via the M3. Industrial-estate padel is now the Irish norm (Padel LK, District 4, most of Let's Go Padel's network) because it is the only way to get six courts under one roof at a rent that works. Follow the Eircode, not your instinct.

What this means for the rest of the county

Navan is central enough that most of Meath is inside forty minutes. Kells and Trim are about fifteen; Ashbourne, Dunshaughlin and Ratoath are nearer thirty and will still be tempted by north Dublin; Enfield and the M4 corridor may find Kinnegad quicker. The venue-by-county options below are still worth knowing, but they are now the second choice rather than the only one.

The Johnstown Estate — Enfield

The Johnstown Estate in Enfield has been granted planning permission for two padel courts (Meath County Council ref 2561057, granted January 2026). A further application was lodged in July 2026 to remove the previously approved roof structure from the design, and was granted with conditions on 2 September 2026. Nothing built on the ground yet, and no confirmed opening date.

In the planning system

These schemes have planning permission. Knightsbrook and Ashbourne are now in our pipeline count, and we have not confirmed that building has started at either; Summerhill and Trim Tennis Club are not, because we have not confirmed whether those courts are already built. Details come from council records in our planning register.

• Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim — 3 modular courts (applicant Padel Sports 100 Ltd). Meath County Council ref. 2660102, granted with conditions 7 October 2026.
• Ashbourne Retail Park, Ballybin Road — 3 outdoor courts with a canopy, plus a sauna building. Meath County Council ref. 2660576, granted with conditions 12 October 2026.
• Summerhill Astroturf, Dangan — a single-storey building for a padel court. Meath County Council ref. 2560383, granted with conditions 10 December 2025.
• Trim Tennis Club, Newhaggard Road — realigned tennis courts plus padel. Meath County Council ref. 2461070, granted with conditions 1 July 2025; an appeal was lodged on 25 July 2025 and the decision was modified on appeal.

We have not confirmed whether the Summerhill and Trim Tennis Club courts are built yet. Still awaiting a decision: a building with 3 indoor courts at Oaktree Business Park, Trim (ref. 2660591), and a new Trim tennis clubhouse with padel in the former railway station on the Athboy Road (ref. 2660507).

No Longer Going Ahead

A proposal for three outdoor courts at Killeen Castle Demesne was lodged with Meath County Council in December 2025, went to Further Information in February 2026, and was withdrawn on 15 June 2026. It was never granted and we have removed it from our tracker. We list it here because it appeared in earlier coverage of padel in the county, including on this page.

Padel 100 at Kinnegad GAA has 2 outdoor courts right beside the Meath boundary on the M4 — the handiest option if you are around Enfield. Turning up with your own racket

Indoor Padel Ireland hires rackets, like every club, and at around €5 a head that adds up over a year of weekly games — roughly €260. Starter kits from €89.95 include a racket, balls, an overgrip and an edge protector, which is everything the desk would otherwise charge you for. Tips Before Your First Game

New to padel? You are in good company — most of Navan will be too this month. A few things worth knowing before your first booking:

• Book the intro class first: €35 for an hour with José Navarro and three other beginners is the fastest route from never-played to enjoying a game. Under "Academy activities" on the club's Playtomic page.
• Don't overthink the serve: The underarm serve in padel is much easier than a tennis serve. Focus on getting it in consistently rather than trying to hit a winner.
• Use the walls: The glass walls are part of the game. Let the ball bounce off the back wall and play it on the rebound — it opens up angles you wouldn't have in tennis.
• Stay at the net: In padel, the net position is where points are won. Work with your partner to move forward and control the rally.
• Invest in proper shoes: Padel-specific shoes or clay court tennis shoes with herringbone soles are ideal. They provide the lateral grip you need for quick changes of direction.
• Book ahead for evenings: Six courts is a lot, but a county that has waited this long will fill them. Weekday evenings will go first.
