Where to Play Padel in Meath

Straight answer: you cannot play padel in County Meath yet. As of September 2026 there is not a single open court in the county. Two venues are in the pipeline — including six indoor courts in Navan — but neither is built and taking bookings. If you want a game this week, you will be travelling, and the nearest open courts are in Louth, Dublin, Westmeath and Cavan.

Where Meath Players Can Play Right Now

These are the closest venues with courts actually open and playable. Which one suits you depends on what part of Meath you are starting from.

Louth

Three open venues, and the handiest option for much of north and east Meath. District 4 Padel Club in Dundalk has 4 indoor courts, so weather is never a reason to cancel. Ballymascanlon Hotel has 2 outdoor courts and Termonfeckin Tennis Club has 2 outdoor. See padel in Louth for the full list.

Dublin

By far the biggest choice — 21 open venues with 61 courts between them, including Dublin Sports Dome (6 indoor courts) and House of Padel (4 indoor). If you are in Ashbourne, Ratoath or Dunshaughlin, north Dublin is the obvious call. See padel in Dublin.

Westmeath

Padel 100 at Kinnegad GAA has 2 outdoor courts, and Kinnegad sits right beside the Meath boundary on the M4 — the handiest option if you are around Enfield or the south-west of the county. Planet Padel Athlone has 3 indoor courts further west. See padel in Westmeath.

Cavan

Indoor Padel Ireland — Navan

The big one for the county. Indoor Padel Ireland is set to bring six indoor courts to Navan at Mullaghboy Industrial Estate, which would give Meath its first dedicated padel venue and year-round play in the county town. The club is listed on Playtomic with opening hours but no bookable slots yet, and there is no confirmed opening date.

The Johnstown Estate — Enfield

2 Courts · Outdoor · Planning granted

The Johnstown Estate in Enfield has been granted planning permission for two padel courts (Meath County Council ref 2561057, granted January 2026). A further application was lodged in July 2026 to remove the previously approved roof structure from the design. Nothing built on the ground yet, and no confirmed opening date.

No Longer Going Ahead

A proposal for three outdoor courts at Killeen Castle Demesne was lodged with Meath County Council in December 2025, went to Further Information in February 2026, and was withdrawn on 15 June 2026. It was never granted and we have removed it from our tracker. We list it here because it appeared in earlier coverage of padel in the county, including on this page.

If you are driving out of the county

Since a game currently means a trip to Louth, Dublin, Westmeath or Cavan, it is worth arriving with your own racket rather than adding €5 a head at an unfamiliar desk — over a year of weekly trips that is roughly €260. Tips Before Your First Game

New to padel? You are in good company. The sport is designed to be accessible, and most people find they can enjoy a proper game from their very first session. A few things worth knowing before you make the trip:

• Don't overthink the serve: The underarm serve in padel is much easier than a tennis serve. Focus on getting it in consistently rather than trying to hit a winner.
• Use the walls: The glass walls are part of the game. Let the ball bounce off the back wall and play it on the rebound — it opens up angles you wouldn't have in tennis.
• Stay at the net: In padel, the net position is where points are won. Work with your partner to move forward and control the rally.
• Invest in proper shoes: Padel-specific shoes or clay court tennis shoes with herringbone soles are ideal. They provide the lateral grip you need for quick changes of direction.
• Try a beginner session: Plenty of clubs run introductory sessions with a coach. It is the fastest way to learn the basics and meet other new players — and worth asking about when you ring a venue.
• Ring ahead: Since you are travelling out of the county, check availability with the venue before you drive. Courts book out at peak evening times.
