• Wait for the wall: Beginners take the ball early and hit into the net. Let it bounce, let it come off the back glass, then hit it as it drops. Nothing else improves a new player faster.
• Serve to start, not to win: Underarm, below the waist, into the box. Keep it in and play the point.
• Wear court shoes: Herringbone soles for grip and lateral support. Runners will slip on artificial grass and will not hold you through a change of direction.
• Round frame first: The sweet spot sits in the middle of a round racket, which is much more forgiving than a diamond while your contact point is still moving around.
